Big J's Road House

Situated between Harrisburg and Sioux Falls on south Minnesota Avenue, this place has really good food. The waitress was prompt and friendly. Food came out within 10-15 minutes of ordering. My friend got a BLT and fries. I tried their version of a Big Mac with fries. We also go an appetizer of Loaded Tater Tots. With tax was $41.52. Very large patio seating.

It was fine. Service was good. Food affordable. My chopped pork was fine. Not the best ever personally—but good. The meat seemed a bit fatty compared to others I’ve had. Might have just been luck of the draw. . I would return. A little bit of a small town dive feel. That’s not always a bad thing! Service was great though!

I've ordered here a few times now. The Food is great! I had a burger and it's by far in my top 10 best burgers! The staff is really nice too.

Grateful to have this awesome restaurant in Harrisburg! The food and the staff are both equally incredible, always, and they make a great team!! Everyone is always so friendly. Big J’s offer plenty of seating and love that they have gluten free buns as an option. They also have Plenty of parking space. My only wish is that inside could be warmer in the cold months and cooler in the hot months !

Called a half hour before open on a Saturday asking if they could accommodate a party of 10 for a kids birthday party. The manager who answered was so nice and said they would be happy to help! We were bringing an ice cream cake and she offered to keep in in their freezer untill after the kids jumped at Air Madness next door. When we arrived at the restaurant, they had a big table reserved for us! Our server, Christal, was so sweet and did a fantastic job taking care of us! I completely forgot to bring candles for the cake but Christal found some for us!! The food was great and so reasonably priced! I can't say how much I truly appreciate the staff and everything they did to make the party a wonderful experience. Thank you so much!!!

Amazing smell of smoked meats the moment you open your car door. The food is absolutely amazing. The meat is tender, flavorful, and not dry. The coleslaw was great. Potato salad was average but everyone can be picky about that! Corn muffin was very good. The service was a little slower paced but friendly. Smaller inside than I anticipated. I would go back!

We were wanting comfort food to end our weekend. My partner had seen a post about the hot beef from Big J’s, so we headed to their Harrisburg location. We were warmly greeted with a smile by staff. She informed us of today’s special - $0.95 smoked traditional or boneless wings. She also offered us her recommendations after finding out it was our first time at that location. We started with the loaded tots ($10.99). They came out in a heaping pile, with every inch loaded with toppings. The cheese pull was video worthy, but we dug right in instead My partner ordered the hot beef ($13.99). It too, was a generous portion. The beef was tender and piled high and there was no skimping on brown gravy. He almost demolished the entire plate and loved it. I ordered the 2 meat platter ($21.99) with brisket and smoked chicken (staff recommended). It came with toast and two sides - I got the garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Both meats were moist and delicious. I added a little BBQ sauce which neither needed and layered a bit of peppery coleslaw to add the perfect crunch to each bite. I ended up taking half of the tots and half of my platter home. If you’re looking for a fun spot where you get your bang for your buck, this is it. To top it off, we will be back based off of service alone. Our server was AWESOME!

Small and cozy inside but lots of great seating outside as well. If it's not too hot, it is very nice to sit outside to eat. I ordered a Chicken Philly sandwich but without the bun cause I'm gf but it was fantastic. I also really enjoyed my garlic mashed potatoes. Husband got a hickory burger with fries. He said the burger was very messy but very good and the fries were excellent. The things we thought might improve our experience was maybe wet wipes since bbq is sticky and seasoning salt on the fries. Beyond that, we were very pleased with our visit and do plan to go back!
